Using the RadLex ontology to advance radiology reporting and decision making
To improve the radiology reporting process and to enable effective data-mining of radiology results for clinical research and quality improvement, a national initiative is underway to develop a technically sound and clinically useable framework for structured reporting in radiology. This presentation will provide an update on those efforts, and will describe how the RadLex ontology, a controlled vocabulary of radiology terms, has been incorporated into that effort. The presentation also will describe the use of RadLex to annotate elements of a knowledge resource for differential diagnosis in radiology.
